Migrate docs from SmartVault to TaxDome

This guide walks you through exporting documents from SmartVault while keeping your clients’ folder structure intact, so you can upload them to TaxDome in bulk.

To export documents from SmartVault, you need to upload client folders from their system to your local computer. Let’s examine these steps in more detail.

Note

If you’re not an admin in SmartVault but need to upload data, request admin rights or ask your admin to handle the upload.

1. Access your files via the SmartVault desktop app. You can also use the SmartVault browser version, but keep in mind the slow download speeds (on average, about 200–300 Kbps). If you don’t have the SmartVault desktop app, see how to install it .

   

2. Export your data using SmartVault’s guide .

Note

If you experience interruptions during download, copying smaller portions is safer to prevent data loss.

Once your files are exported, continue the migration by importing your CRM data and then importing your documents into TaxDome .
